  • Cabinet Care Guide

Keep your new cabinets looking beautiful with these simple tips:

    1. Dust Regularly: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or microfiber cloth for laminate and high gloss cabinetry.
    2. Clean Gently: Use a dampened soft cotton or microfiber cloth with warm water. For tough grime, use a mild dishwashing liquid solution (5% dishwashing liquid to 95% water).
    3. Dry Thoroughly: After cleaning, wipe down with a clean, damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth. Use a microfiber cloth for laminates and high gloss materials to avoid scratches.
    4. Handle Spills Promptly: Wipe up spills quickly to prevent permanent damage or discoloration. Clean with warm water or a mild dishwashing liquid solution, and dry thoroughly.
    5. Care for Glass Doors: Clean glass with an ammonia-free glass cleaner sprayed on a cloth or paper towel, not directly on the glass.
    6. Avoid Waxing and Polishing: Waxing can cause buildup and a hazy appearance.
    7. Touch-Up Kits: Available for minor nicks and scratches. Contact your retailer for a color-matched kit.
    8. Prevent Moisture Damage: Don’t drape damp items over cabinet doors. Maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels.
    9. Protect from Heat and Sunlight: Remove cabinet doors near the oven during self-cleaning cycles. Use draperies or blinds to shield from direct sunlight.
    10. Avoid Harsh Products: Do not use harsh detergents, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, steel wool, or solvent-based products. Also avoid ammonia, bleach, and silicone-based cleaners.

By following these instructions, you can ensure your cabinets remain in excellent condition for years to come.

Efficiency has a shape: the triangle

The basic work triangle is comprised of an imaginary line drawn between the kitchen’s primary work areas: food storage (refrigerator, pantry, etc.), food preparation (stove) and clean-up (sink). For maximum efficiency, the sum total of the triangle should be 26 linear feet, with the sink being the center point.
